Welcome
We are thrilled to have you as a patient and want to ensure every visit you have with us is as smooth and comfortable as possible. We understand that the mere thought of getting a root canal can be stressful for some patients, which is why we are dedicated to providing an environment that is as friendly, relaxing and comfortable as possible. We take pride in providing top-quality, pain free endodontic care and look forward to meeting you soon …or to seeing you again!
Before Your Visit
After you make an appointment, we will email our Registration Letter to you.* That letter will confirm the date and time of your appointment and will let you know what to bring with you. It also will explain how to complete your registration on-line BEFORE you come to our office. If you do not want to pre-register on-line, or if you need help with that, we will be glad to assist you either beforehand or when you get here. If you do not pre-register on-line, please arrive 20 minutes early to allow time to complete your registration before your scheduled appointment. Please remember to bring your dental insurance card, the referral slip and any other information (such as x-rays) that your general dentist may have given you!
*If you do not receive an email from us, please call to make sure we have the correct email address for you
During Your Visit
Typically your visit will begin with a 3D x-ray and a thorough examination of your teeth for the purpose of accurately diagnosing the complaint for which you are seeking endodontic treatment. That examination will begin by focusing on the tooth you and/or your general dentist believe needs a root canal. However, we take nothing for granted! Sometimes our examination will find your pain is coming from a different tooth than you or your general dentist thought. Or our examination could find that, instead of a root canal, an apicoetomy would be the appropriate procedure for saving your tooth. In rare cases, we find that a patient’s pain is not tooth-related and, therefore, that endodontic treatment of any kind would be pointless. We are experts at diagnosing, locating and alleviating tooth pain. Our decades of experience with diagnosing tooth pain, together with the amazing clarity and complete detail we can see with 3D x-rays, enable us to make spot-on accurate diagnoses with no guess work. Armed with that diagnosis, we will outline your treatment options, explain our recommendations, answer your questions and help you decide what course of action is best for you. If you agree that proceeding now with a root canal or with any other endodontic treatment we may recommend is right for you, we will do our best to start and finish that treatment while you are here for this appointment.
However, if you need surgery (an apicoetomy), it will need to be scheduled for a subsequent visit.
After Your Visit
What comes next depends on what services you receive. If we complete an
endodontic treatment, we will give you detailed Post-Treatment Instructions when you check out. If we start treatment, but do not complete it, then we will make a follow-up appointment for you and provide a copy of our Interim-Treatment Instructions to you when you check out. In both cases, it will be vitally important for you to read and actually follow those written instructions!
