Here’s how we AVOID biofilm formation in those lines at Wells Endodontics.
The ONLY water we use in our operatories is water that’s been purified using our VistaPureTM Water Purification System. We also install DentaPureTM Cartridges in all of our dental unit water bottles to reduce and control water borne bacteria. DentaPureTM Cartridges control the growth of micro-organisms in the dental unit water lines by releasing isotopes of elemental iodine into the water as it flows through the cartridge into those lines. After a certain volume of water has passed through a cartridge, it gets low on iodine and therefore must be replaced. Using an Iodine Colorimeter, we routinely test and document the iodine level in the water from each of the bottles. When we
get a low iodine reading for the water from any particular bottle, we replace the cartridge in that bottle.
